Summary

Responsible for collecting food donations from supermarkets across the city and bringing them back to Abbey Food Hub.

Detailed description

This role is for anyone who wants to help fight food waste and help everyone in the community to access food.

Drivers are responsible for collecting food donations from supermarkets, either regularly or every so often. The role involves packing crates and bags of food into their car and delivering to the Food Hub. If no one is at the Food Hub, this will sometimes involve volunteers letting themselves into the building and putting any food that needs to be refrigerated in the fridge.

Most of the supermarket collections are in the mornings and evenings, so we need drivers who can be available at these times. We particularly need help in the evenings from 8pm.

Supermarket collection drivers play a crucial role in keeping the Food Hub running, as without them, we wouldn't have any food to give out at sessions.

We have a cargo bike too, so there's scope for training people on that to do some of the collections.
