Summary

The Cambridge Film Trust is seeking new trustees to join us in our work running the Cambridge Film Festival and advancing film culture and education.

Detailed description

To apply, follow the instructions on the Cambridge Film Festival website.

Our flagship event is the annual Cambridge Film Festival, one of the longest-running film festivals in the country. We also deliver screenings, events, and educational programmes year-round, enabling people to be moved by, learn about, and interact with film.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who share our passion for cinema and want to help shape the future of the Cambridge Film Festival as we modernise, diversify, and expand our reach.

A Focus on Diversity and Inclusion

We actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including those based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, and socioeconomic background. Increasing the diversity of our Board is a key priority, and we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all trustees.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking individuals who have a love of cinema and a passion for engaging diverse audiences with a broad range of films – especially films that might not otherwise be seen.

Our current focus includes:

  • Fundraising and Sponsorship: Raising funds to secure the long-term success of the Festival and its legacy is essential. Experience in fundraising strategy or sponsorship acquisition would be especially valuable.
  • Business and Financial Expertise: We welcome trustees with financial acumen, particularly in the context of arts organisations, to help oversee the Trust’s financial planning and sustainability.
  • Advocacy, Networking, and Industry: Trustees who can help raise the profile of the Cambridge Film Festival, foster relationships within the Film and exhibition sector, as well as with local, regional, and national partners, and leverage their networks to help us secure guests, speakers and collaborators, will play a crucial role in our success.

We are also interested in applications from filmmakers whose insights and experience within the creative industry can enrich our vision and support the Festival’s connection with the filmmaking community at a regional and national level.

Why Join Us?

Serving as a trustee offers the opportunity to:

  • Be part of the UK’s third longest-running film festival as it continues to modernise and diversify.
  • Gain unique insights into the workings of a major film festival and independent cinema in the UK.
  • Work with a team of experts passionate about film, including industry professionals, programmers, educators, and innovators.
  • Attend Film Festival events, screenings, and exclusive gatherings with filmmakers, actors, and industry leaders.

How to Apply: Please, follow the instructions on the Cambridge Film Festival website.

Applications will be reviewed from 10 February, with interviews taking place later in the month.
