We are looking for people with professional experience and skills to support our Lead Volunteer and Chair.

Detailed description

Role Overview:

As a volunteer Trustee, you will play a crucial role in the governance of Cambridgeshire Scouts and supporting our Lead Volunteer and Chair.


Our Trustees play a key part in Scouts, and keep an eye on our vision. They make sure young people (ages 4 -25) from diverse backgrounds have the best experience at Scouts, and check things are being done safely and legally.


We are looking for people to share their professional experience and skills in governance, fundraising strategy, safety or property matters. 


Our Trustees work together to make sure the County: 

  • Manages money well
  • Follows Scouts policies (including those related to safety, safeguarding, data protection, and equality, diversity and inclusion), charity regulations and and other relevant legislation. 
  • Act as custodians of our buildings and property making sure that all are in good working order.  
  • Manage risks
  • Work with the Lead Volunteer to contribute to the strategic aims and future development of Cambridgeshire Scouts.


Our Trustees:

  • Attend around six bi-monthly Trustee Board meetings per year plus an Annual General Meeting. 
  • Make sure they understand the key discussion points and responsibilities of the Trustee Board to enable them to make informed decisions on governance matters
  • Undertake various tasks to support the work of the Trustee Board and the aims of Cambridgeshire Scouts
