Main role:
To assist & support the café staff with the day-to-day running of the Farmland Museum’s Docky Box Cafe, including serving customers, stocking shelves, and keeping the café clean and tidy.
Hours:
Hours are by mutual arrangement during the season, and can include Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday Mondays and other days when catering is required for events or group bookings. The cafe is open between 10am and 4pm, with support welcome any time but usually between the busier hours of 11am and 2pm.
Dress Code:
Clean, smart black/white top, dark trousers/skirt, and apron (will be provided.) No jewellery, false nails, or nail varnish. Long hair must be tied back.

Duties:
• Serving customers of the Docky Box Cafe at the counter
• Serving food and hot/cold drinks to customers.
• Using a touch screen till to take orders, process card and cash payments
• Displaying and restocking items including baked goods, snacks, and cold drinks.
• Clearing tables (including outdoor picnic tables), putting chairs back in place and generally tidying the premises.
• Cleaning the kitchen and equipment.
• Washing up, stacking and emptying dishwasher.
Training:
• Observation and shadowing of café staff.
• Training on use of the touchscreen till.
• Allergen Awareness training.
• Any relevant Farmland Museum Health & Safety, safeguarding and collections-related policies and procedures.
Personal qualities required:
• Enjoys working in a busy team environment with other volunteers, specialist staff and trustees.
• Uses safe working practices at all times.
• Ability to chat with customers and cultivate a friendly environment in the cafe.
• Happy to work independently at times, once feeling confident in the skills needed.
• Interest in Fenland farming history, local history, museums or archives is helpful, not essential
