What we're looking for

We welcome individuals and organisations who are passionate about equipping young people for the working world and inspiring them to work in your sector.

This year we are looking to bolster our representation particularly (but not exclusively) across the following sectors:

🌳Agriculture, forestry and fishing

💡Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply

💧Water, sewerage, waste management and remediation

🚛Transportation and storage

🏨Accommodation and food service activities

🩺Human health and social work activities 

What's involved

Our outreach programme involves interactive activities such as Mock Interviews, What's My Line, Careers Carousel, Enterprise Days, Employability Skills and Apprenticeship Talks. Activities vary from between 1 - 2 hours up to a whole school day, and there is no minimum commitment. You select the schools, locations, timings and activities that fit best around your own diary and other commitments.

Rationale

In the UK, pupils choose their GCSE subjects in Year 8 and 9, so are making significant decisions about their subject choices from as young as 13 years old. By the age of 16 (Year 11) they will have made decisions about their further and higher education that will in turn affect their ability to pursue different careers. In many cases

they have not received adequate information or guidance to help them do so. This can have a negative impact on their work prospects, career journey and future potential.

Form the Future brings together a community of working people, professionals and employers, who represent the local labour market: our inspirational Ambassadors! With their help, we provide programmes and activities that ensure every young person in the region learns about the breadth and diversity of work options available. Students can then start to map their own skills and interests against what is possible and become active agents in planning and shaping their future working life.
