Summary

We are looking for a Volunteer Administrator to join a busy, friendly team in St Ives.

Detailed description

Our Community Car Scheme serves the local population, arranging transport for individuals to attend their medical and social engagement, with a view to improving access to health care and reducing social isolation.

Due to an increase in demand, we are looking for additional volunteer administrators to join an existing team in St Ives, for a few hours each week (to be discussed and agreed with you). The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate good communication skills, have experience working in a busy office and be competent in using Microsoft Office. In particular we are looking for someone who is confident with the use of email and the basics of excel - knowledge of how to enter data, filter and sort.

The role involves answering telephone calls and messages from clients and taking their requests for transport, noting these details accurately and transferring those notes to an excel spreadsheet. Suitable Volunteer Drivers then need to be contacted in order to fulfil the transport requirement, with accurate details being emailed to drivers and confirmation communicated back to clients. Our set procedures must be followed in all cases, so that each Volunteer Administrator is able to pick up at the start of a new day.

You will be joining a team of 5 volunteer administrators, and 45 volunteer drivers, headed and supported by our Area Manager. Full training is provided. Successful candidates will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS Certificate and the cost of this is covered by CPCA.

About Huntingdonshire Volunteer Centre

We are a registered charity based in Huntingdonshire and our mission is to ‘Support Huntingdonshire communities through Volunteering’
Volunteers are at the heart of everything that Huntingdonshire Volunteer Centre (HVC) does. We work to recruit volunteers – matching personal skills and interests to the right volunteer opportunities – and to promote the benefits that volunteering brings to individuals and to the many charities and organisations in Huntingdonshire. HVC could not manage without our own team of valuable volunteers who help run our services and it is our aim to match all volunteers who come to us with the right organisation and role for them.
We operate four Community Car Schemes from our offices in Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots and Ramsey and we run a Community Shop in Huntingdon which raises vital funds to help maintain our services.
