Summary

We are looking for volunteers to support our FenCreators programme across Wisbech, Whittlesey and Chatteris from September - December 2024.

Detailed description

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our FenCreators programme which is a series of creative workshops encompassing art, craft, digital and varying media, with fun activities in a sociable, inclusive atmosphere. Experienced artists will run the workshops across each town in rotation, spending 5 weeks in each town. We need one volunteer per session to assist in the running of each event – no experience necessary! From filmmaking to embroidery, pottery to poetry, there will be plenty of creative skills to learn about and you will be helping us deliver these fun workshops whilst bringing your local community together to be creative, learn new skills, develop new interests and make new friends in a relaxed informal environment.

What you will be doing

  • Taking a register of participants for each session
  • Assisting the session artist with running the activity, this could be anything from handing out materials to helping and encouraging participants
  • Talking to, and helping to, facilitate conversations between participants to foster a sense of community and commonality.
  • Collecting feedback from participants at the end of each session, both verbal and written.
  • Acting as a representative for MarketPlace to promote community connection through creative practice.

The skills you need

  • Good spoken communication skills and a willingness to start conversations with different people
  • Enthusiasm for the arts and community

Benefits for you:

  • Excellent experience of working with an arts organisation and within a community project.
  • You get to take part in the activities on offer and learn new creative skills.
  • Connect with your local community and learn about working in a creative industry.
