Our minibus brings older people to Over Day Centre in the mornings (9.30am-11.00am) and takes them home in the afternoons (3.00pm-4.30pm) Monday to Friday. We are looking for volunteers to escort on the minibus when they can - there is no commitment to specific days or times.
Morning escorts help clients from their front door onto the minibus and staff will assist in bringing clients into the Day Centre once the bus arrives.
Afternoon escorts, with staff help, assist clients to board the minibus and then help the clients off the bus to their front door.
Escorts do not help clients get ready to come to the Day Centre, nor do they enter a client's home. The minibus driver is always on hand to assist.
Training will be given by staff members and volunteers will only start to escort clients, without staff asistance, when they feel confident to do so.
A DBS check is required because you will be volunteering with vulnerable members of the community.
