Summary

Prepare food for our lunch clubs, which provide company and community for vulnerable and older adults.

Detailed description

Volunteers will prepare food for our lunch clubs on Thursdays and Fridays. On both days we provide a warm, two-course meal.

Cooks will start preparing the food around 10am, ready for serving at 12.30pm. New volunteers may prefer to take the assistant cook role, helping with chopping, serving, and washing up - the lead cook will take responsibility for choosing the menu, ordering the ingredients in advance, and directing the cooking.

Cooks are welcome to stay to eat, and to socialise with those attending the meal. This is a whole range of people: the elderly, those living with dementia, those with learning disabilities, and other vulnerabilities, as well as people from the church and local community. For many guests, this is a core part of their weekly routine and they really value the lunch clubs as a reason to get out the house and meet people. It's about far more than the food.
