Summary

Help host our weekly Monday Simple Supper, which is a free hot meal open to all. Many attend who are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in food poverty.

Detailed description

Each Monday, we host a warm meal, listening to each others' stories as we share our food together. Many attend who are homeless or in food poverty, as well as people from the local community and the St Paul's congregation. The meal is free, on a donate-what-you-can basis.

Hosts arrive from 5.30pm, to help set up the room for the meal and welcome people as they arrive. They sit and eat with everyone else, engaging those around them in conversation. Hosts especially look out for people visiting for the first time, or anyone in particular need of warm welcome and company. Around 6.30pm, hosts will start helping clear away so that we are finished with kitchen clean up by 7pm.

The food is important, but what many volunteers find most meaningful about the evening is the chance to connect with people in their humanity and hear their stories.

Getting there

We are right on Hills Road, on several bus routes. There is street parking around the church.
