Arts Café Volunteer - flexible times

About the role

As a Café volunteer you will be a vital member of a small team welcoming visitors to The Hall in a relaxed and friendly setting.

You’ll love working with people and giving our customers a great experience. Guided and supported by our Arts Café managers, this is a very social role where you also directly support the future of the Hall by ensuring our main source of regular income functions smoothly.

Main Duties

• Welcoming visitors and customers to the Café and building
• Serving and clearing food and snacks
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for customers, other volunteers and staff
• Being a friendly face to all visitors and responding to/signposting enquiries
• Taking Café orders, handling transactions (optional)
• Making hot and cold drinks (optional).

Expectations

• To bring a positive, can-do attitude to the role, helping us to be an inclusive and welcoming space for local people from all communities and backgrounds
• To undertake training on key machinery of equipment (optional) and online allergen awareness training (compulsory for all volunteers)
• To be familiar with The Hall's premises and our relevant policies and procedures
• To dress appropriately (plain, dark clothes - ideally black). We ask that you supply your own clothing
• There is no minimum commitment but regular/weekly patterns are available. Shifts last 2.5hrs (9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday, shorter hours on Sunday).
